Our visit to Veligandu Island began with an invitation from the General Manager, Fathuhulla Ibrahim, who had informed his team in advance about our Saturday meeting. Veligandu Island is a brand-new hotel, currently in the final stages of construction. The resort is being meticulously prepared for its grand opening, with all materials and equipment already procured and guest rooms undergoing final touches.

A Delightful Lunch Experience
As lunchtime approached, General Manager Fathuhulla Ibrahim graciously invited us to join him for a meal. The resort’s culinary team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, preparing several delicious Chinese dishes. The food was plentiful and exquisitely prepared, providing a taste of the exceptional dining experiences guests can look forward to once the resort opens.
Addressing Client Concerns: Employee Accommodations
Following lunch, the HR Manager and Procurement Manager led us on a tour of the employee accommodations. During this visit, they highlighted some issues they had encountered with previously purchased shoe cabinets. Due to the island’s high humidity and salty air, traditional wooden furniture had quickly developed mold and attracted mosquitoes and insects. We were asked to recommend suitable alternatives and suggest materials that would be more resistant to the island’s challenging environment.
Evaluating Guest Room Furniture
In addition to the issues with the employee accommodations, we also evaluated the guest room furniture. Some of the furniture, which had been in use for approximately four years, showed signs of wear and discoloration. The resort team requested our assistance in finding appropriate materials for furniture restoration to ensure the rooms maintain their luxurious appeal.
Product Discussions and Insights
During our discussions, we had the opportunity to meet with Ahmed Shiaar, the Procurement Manager, and Jhon from the finance department. Shiaar emphasized the importance of balancing reasonable prices with corresponding quality when selecting suppliers. This feedback was invaluable, as it provided us with a clear understanding of the resort’s expectations and standards.
